100 get skill acquisition training from NYSC member in Omu-Aran

Date: 2013-06-05

No fewer than 100 people in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, have benefited from a community development skills acquisition training organised by a member of the National Youth Service Corps, Oluwaseun Babaleye.
Speaking at the certificate presentation and project inauguration in Omu-Aran on Monday,  Babaleye said  the initiative was aimed at reducing the rate of unemployment at the grassroots.
Some residents of the community received certificates of training in fashion designing as
well as production of disinfectants, soap and toiletries.
Babaleye, a petroleum and petrochemical engineering graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, is a Batch 'B' corps member serving at Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran.
She said the training programme, which was part of her NYSC Community Development Service (CDS), was borne out of her findings on the prevalent rate of unemployment, especially at the grassroots.
"Through my in-depth research, I got to know that many people, especially at the community level, lacked some basic necessity of life due to high rate of unemployment.
"I also discovered to my biggest surprise that no single person is into production of basic household needs like toilet soap, bleach products  and car wash in the community as a whole."
