New CP vows to rid Kwara of criminal activities

Date: 2013-05-22

The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Agboola Oshodi-Glover, has promised to fight crimes and rid the state of criminals.

Oshodi-Glover made the promise on Wednesday while speaking with journalists in Ilorin.

He called on all residents of the state to collaborate with the police in combating crimes.

He also solicited for the cooperation of journalists in the state in his quest to rid Kwara of criminal activities.

Oshodi-Glover described journalists as police's strongest allies in the fight against crime, expressing the hope that they would cooperate with him.

"I will fight crime to a standstill in the state, crime and criminal activities will be reduced to the barest minimum during my tenure as commissioner of police," he said.

The commissioner also said that his main agenda in Kwara was to fight crime in all its ramifications.

To achieve this, he said: "the police will be energised and well-equipped for the task of crime prevention in the state."

He said that the command would beef up its operations particularly in the state capital and other big towns in the state.

Oshodi-Glover said his men would embark on effective patrol of the city on daily basis to flush out criminals from their hideouts.

He pledged to deal with any of his men found aiding and abetting criminals, saying that police job is to fight crime and criminals and not to abet them.
