Kwara to spend N289m on schools rehabilitation

Date: 2012-03-14

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Development, Alhaji Raji Muhammad yesterday said that N289 million was released for the rehabilitation schools that are in bad conditions in the state. He said the money would be used to rehabilitate 200 blocks of classrooms in 58 secondary schools in all the 16 local government areas of the state. Alhaji Raji, who disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin yesterday, said, "More than 900 schools were in bad state when the governor assumed office, so the government decided to undertake the rehabilitation work on the schools bit by bit to ensure a conducive learning environment," he said.

He, therefore, enjoined members of  communities, where the affected schools are located to ensure strict supervision and monitoring of the rehabilitation work. He added that the contractors would be mobilised to site in a few days.
