Bayelsa Win Restored Confidence - Dogo
ABS gaffer, Kabiru Sulaiman Dogo, has declared that Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Bayelsa United has injected them with a healthy dose of confidence ahead of subsequent fixtures.
Without a point in three matches against Lobi Stars, Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists, respectively, Dogo’s side played like trojans and earned maximum points in front of an excited crowd that included club sponsor, Senator Bukola Saraki.
“We had to win because of our tight situation. ABS was 19th on the log ahead of the match. The players played well and scored two great goals against a tough side like Bayelsa United,” Dogo said.
It was a day the club’s all-time leading scorer, Abdulrahman Bashir, took his tally to 58 goals after experiencing a drought since the start of the season.
Bashir, who was brilliant on matchday, became goal provider when his effort from the left was beautifully connected with a low header by the creative Thomas Zenke.
Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Jonah Usman, frustrated the duo of Gomo Onduku and Uche Ihuarulam.
Sunday's victory has moved the Ilorin side to 16th on the 20-team log with seven points from seven matches.
