Colleges Law Scales Second Reading in Kwara House
The bill seeking improved funding for six Kwara State owned Colleges of Education, on Wednesday, scaled second reading in the state House of Assembly.
At the day's proceedings of the assembly presided over by the Speaker, Barrister Razaq Atunwa, the lawmakers unanimously supported the bill after it was read by the House Majority Leader, Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu.
The bill when passed into law would boost funding of the state-owned colleges of education and address other matters affecting effective running of the colleges. "Due to the problems our schools are facing financially, morally, and the rest, this amendment is pertinent and desirable to make and implement for smooth running of colleges of education in the state," said the majority leader. He stressed the need for the legislature to checkmate the arbitrariness of colleges, the management and staff, as well as instill discipline in students.
