Senator Bukola Saraki Acquires Govt Chalet Renovated with N1 Billion for Himself - ACN
ACTION Congress of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, (ACN) on Thursday alleged that the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Bukola Saraki has acquired a chalet owned by the state government for himself at the expense of the masses.
Speaking in Ilorin, the Chairman, ACN stakeholders committee in the state, Dr. Sa’ad Omoiya confirmed that the government chalet which has been renovated with a sum of 1 billion naira is ready to be transferred to the ex-governor at the sum of N80 million.
According to him, “This is quite embarrassing and insane. The immediate past governor is playing on the intelligence of Kwarans in which I am one of them. If all past governments have been wielding government property to themselves, what will he have met as a governor?
“The recent act of impunity exhibited by the self acclaimed leader of the People Democratic Party, PDP, led government in Kwara State, by celebrating his discharge of thugs, demanding the return of the arms distributed to them and pays them off with whopping sum of money, ranging from N 100, 000 to N500, 000 each.
“The most recent and criminal conversion of a governor’s chalet behind Ilorin Golf Club, recently renovated with over one billion naira, is now sold to Bukola at just N80 million, as per the papers available. If ever, anything is paid.”
Omoiya however described the activities of the current executive of the ACN in the state as null and void and advised the acting Chairman, Mr. Kayode Olawepo, to desist from parading himself as the helmsman noting that the party would host its congress as soon as directed by the national secretariat.
In his reaction, the PDP Spokesperson in the state, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, said: “It is typical of the ACN to turn a genuine empowerment programme into a weapon for attacking public spirited PDP leaders.
“These latest allegations are not only untrue but reflect an attempt by the failed opposition to cast a slur on the image of our leader, distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki who has consistently empowered youths and other groups in the last two years.”
The party stalwart however stressed that it is ironic that the ACN will peddle
falsehood against Senator Saraki for empowering the same youths it brought into the state for thuggery in the 2011 and subsequently abandoned.
“These youths turned to our leader for jobs and entrepreneurship support and were empowered. Neither Senator Saraki nor the state government paid anyone to disarm.
“Rather youths who solicited assistance were provided jobs and supported to set up their
businesses by Senator Saraki who also supported women groups, students and numerous others in his monthly empowerment programs. These attacks show the ACN as a fragmented party desperate to remain relevant”, he said.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the State governor on Media, Dr. Muyideen Akorede said that the allegations leveled against the state government by this fringe Kwara ACN group are totally baseless and untrue.
He said: “We deny the claims contained in the statement and challenge this group to provide documented evidence of these unfounded allegations or stop trying to mislead the good people of Kwara State.
“The Ahmed administration is too focused on delivering effective governance to allow itself to be distracted by this disinformation campaign.”
