Mr Kazeem Ganiyu of Amilegbe area of  Ilorin on Friday urged an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve his marriage with Abeke Kazeem for associating with bad friends.

"I tried to caution my wife to avoid some sets of wayward housewives in our area but she refused to take my advice,” he said.

Ganiyu said his wife’s attitude had changed since she began to keep bad company, adding that she was also fond of attending weekend parties.

Ganiyu, 46, urged the court to dissolve the five-year old marriage, which had produced two girls.

"My lord, I want an end to this marriage because my wife has no time for her children, instead, she prefers dinning and wining with friends at parties,” he said.

The defendant, however, urged the court not to accept the prayer of her husband, saying she was still interested in the marriage.

"My husband doesn’t want to see anybody with me because he keeps condemning them when they come for a visit,'' Abeke said.

She urged the court to adjourn the case to enable them to reconcile. "I am ready to quit companionship with bad friends for the survival of the marriage," she said.

The Judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case to April 5 for the couple to reconcile.
