People of Ikotun,under the aegis of Ikotun Development Union in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have requested the state government to effect total rehabilitation of Ikotun water dam.

In a resolution on a petition presented on the floor of the Kwara House by a member representing Oke-Ogun State Constituency, Honourable Kamal Oyekunle, last Wednesday, the House urged Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to, as a matter of urgency, direct the Ministry of Water Resources to rehabilitate Ikotun Water Works so as to make it fully functional. The resolution also stated that the Kwara State government should consider, as a matter of priority, the expansion of Ikotun dam to increase its capacity due to increase in population. Also, the Kwara House commended the state government for its magnanimity in engaging retired officers in the health sector on contract appointment, with a view to cushioning the effect of the retirement and at the same time provide hospitals with experienced services. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Razaq Atunwa, gave the commendation in a resolution on the report of the House Committee on Health and Environment, presented by the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Saadu Audu, on the petition written by the retired nurses/midwives and community health officers from the state Civil Service.

The resolution also urged the government to pay the outstanding two months salary arrears, outstanding 2011 leave bonuses and any outstanding gratuities of the retired officers without further delay.
