Man Arraigned for Being in Possession Charm
A 25-year-old man, Buhari Rasheed of Apata Yakubu Area, Ilorin, has appeared before an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly being in possession of suspected criminal charms.
The accused was arrested following a tip-off that one Tayo aka T. Boy was residing with the accused.
According to the police, when detectives from State Criminal Intelligent Department (SCID), Kwara State Police Headquarters, Ilorin, stormed the residence of the accused the said T. Boy allegedly took to his heels upon sighting the police.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that a search conducted in the house of the accused led to the recovery of criminal charms and a light blue mask.
The FIR added that investigation revealed that the T. Boy now at large resides with the accused and that the criminal charms and the mask belong to him (T. Boy).
The accused was brought before the court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and being in possession of criminal charms, contrary to Section 97 and 217 of Penal code Law.
The prosecutor, Constable Elijah Abegunde informed the court that investigation into the matter was still on and urged the court to adjourn the case till further date to enable the police complete investigation.
The prosecutor however left the issue of the bail of the accused to the discretion of the court.
The judge, Magistrate I.A. Dasuki exercised its bail discretion in favour of the accused since the prosecutor did not oppose to the bail of the accused.
The court admitted the accused to bail at the sum of N30,000 and two sureties in the same amount and adjourned the case to March 13 for further mention.
