A socio-political organisation in Kwara state, Kwara Dynamic Forum, has thrown its weight behind a call from opinion leaders in the country that Chief Ebenezer Babatope should be elected the national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement signed by its national coordinator, Alhaji Adewara Lawal, and made available to Gamji in Ilorin, the group said Babatope was capable of keeping the flag of the party flying in respect of progress being desired.

Alhaji Lawal, who was a member of two House of Representatives in the Second Republic, said Babatope would add value to the growth of the party, "being a popular organiser of human resources and management of political events.

The group, said Babatope had excelled in all his national assignments as the Director of Organisation in the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in the Second Republic, adding that he also served the nation as a Minister of Transport and Aviation during the late General Sani Abacha government.

"As a current member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the highest organ of PDP, he has never let the party down.

All party assignments given to him were honourably and diligently discharged,” the group said, adding that it had confidence in the leadership of Babatope, “who does not play racial or parochial politics in all its ramifications.”
