Royal Lions Club Inducts Six New Members in Ilorin, Pledges Expanded Humanitarian Services Across Kwara
The Ilorin Royal Lions Club, a prominent humanitarian organization based in the Kwara State capital, has appealed for increased support from government agencies, corporate entities, private organizations, and public-spirited individuals to enable philanthropic bodies to execute critical community-based projects.
The association made the call on Friday in Ilorin during the inauguration ceremony of its newly installed President, Hamid Kunle Kareem.
Speaking during his inauguration-which also featured the induction of six new members, a fundraising drive, and the recognition of outgoing executives-Kareem revealed plans to expand the club's humanitarian interventions to more underserved communities across Kwara State.
He emphasized that the execution of the club's planned outreach programs relies heavily on the willingness of stakeholders and members to pool their financial resources, technical expertise, and time toward improving the welfare of vulnerable populations.
Expressing gratitude to the membership for the confidence reposed in his leadership, Kareem promised to collaborate with all partners to sustain ongoing initiatives and deepen the club's impact on community development.
"I want to use this opportunity to call on government agencies, private organisations, individuals and other stakeholders to support our humanitarian projects, because the needs of our communities are many and we cannot meet them without collective effort. I am grateful to our members for entrusting me with this responsibility, and I do not take the confidence they have placed in me for granted; I also acknowledge the contributions of our past leaders, whose dedication has helped to move the club forward," Kareem stated.
The newly inaugurated president emphasized internal cohesion, noting that unified teamwork would enhance the club's capacity to identify urgent local challenges, mobilize capital, and execute impactful relief projects.
"Leadership is a collective responsibility, and I believe that by working together, supporting one another and remaining committed to our shared objectives, we can achieve more and make our humanitarian activities more effective," he added.
Kareem further advocated for cross-sectoral partnerships involving state institutions, commercial enterprises, and civil society groups to amplify project delivery and reach a broader spectrum of beneficiaries. He reaffirmed the group's commitment to selfless service, urging members to uphold the values of empathy and volunteerism.
The fundraising component of the ceremony gathered financial commitments aimed at funding the club's upcoming service projects.
During the event, six new members-Lion Sulyman Woru, Alade Khadijat, Aishat Saludeen, Oluwapelumi Olorode, Kaosarat Olamide, and Nana Atta-Omeiza-were formally inducted into the association, expanding its volunteer base for local community service.
The event also featured awards acknowledging the contributions of outgoing officers whose tenure laid the foundation for the incoming administration.
Kareem, an entrepreneur and development practitioner with background experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, is the founder of the Elite Vibez Award and is affiliated with Menu Menu Ventures in the frozen food industry.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration, a member of the organization expressed confidence that the new administration under Kareem would build strategic partnerships, drive member participation, and convert the club's philanthropic goals into tangible outcomes for people facing difficult conditions.
