The City Boy Movement has said the postponement of its planned Kwara State inauguration was caused by adjustments to its schedule and planning arrangements, dismissing reports that the event was cancelled or boycotted because of a political disagreement.

The clarification was contained in a statement signed by the movement's Director-General, Francis Shoga, amid reports and speculation surrounding the status of the planned inauguration.

The movement said the decision to postpone the programme was made to allow for better coordination and effective participation of relevant stakeholders.

"The programme was not boycotted or cancelled for political reasons," the statement said.

The group said it remained committed to working with the All Progressives Congress structure in Kwara, the state government, party stakeholders, community leaders, youth and women groups and other relevant stakeholders.

It said its activities remained focused on grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement, as well as support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The clarification comes as the movement continues to expand its state structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The City Boy Movement has been carrying out state-level organisational activities and inaugurations as part of its grassroots mobilisation programme.

The movement said a new date for the Kwara inauguration would be announced through its official communication channels.

It also urged the media and members of the public to rely on statements issued by its leadership concerning its programmes, rather than reports attributing the postponement to a boycott or internal disagreement.

The movement reiterated that the postponement should not be interpreted as a withdrawal from its planned activities in Kwara, saying the programme would be rescheduled after the necessary adjustments had been concluded.
