Local Government Autonomy 100% Effective in Kwara Under AbdulRazaq - Salahu
The Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, has declared that local government autonomy is 100 per cent effective under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
According to him, the governor's stance on local government autonomy aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
Salahu made the assertion on Sunday in Ilorin, the state capital, when the people of the Ayegbami community in Dada, Okelele, Ilorin East Local Government Area, paid him a thank-you visit over the repair of their vandalised electricity transformer.
The repair of the transformer was funded by the Ilorin East Local Government Council. Salahu stated that the kind gesture demonstrated that the local government administration in Kwara State has been highly effective under the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq.
He praised the governor for implementing full local government autonomy, which he said had resuscitated the hitherto moribund council administrations in the state by granting the chairmen a free hand to operate.
Salahu noted with delight that the dividends of democracy are now being felt at the grassroots across all parts of the local government areas.
"In Ibagun Ward, in particular, the Ilorin East Local Government has remodelled the Upper Area Court Complex in Akerebiata, along the Sobi Army Barrack road, Ilorin; donated a transformer to the Igbawere community; constructed drainage and graded the Abata Jagun and Sorafaja/Al-Nur roads; and repaired boreholes at Olaoparun, Omitopo, Dada, and Alawo-Nla areas," he listed.
He also highlighted that the Kankatu Market was remodelled after being affected by a rainstorm not long ago.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ayegbami Community Development Association, Imam Daud Alata, had requested Salahu to convey the profound gratitude of the community to the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. Lukman Agbelere, for the timely intervention.
