TRAIN CRUSHES MAN TO DEATH IN ILORIN
A 38-year-old man, Mr. Emmanuel Joseph was on Sunday, crushed to death in his Honda Accord vehicle by a moving train along Offa Garage Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
It was gathered that the moving train did not give any sign nor blew its horn because the scene of the incidence was an artificial and unapproved crossing point created by residents for vehicular comfort.
Efforts made by the victim to come out of the car proved abortive because of his weight, which could not allow him maneuver himself as the train dragged the vehicle and eventually crushed it.
According to a member of the Word Assembly Church, Mr. Anthony, "Joseph is my colleague in the church; he left the church immediately after service at about 11 o’clock in the morning to rush home to eat.
"He escaped death twice in the recent time due to high level of health break down; nobody could expect that he would survive those sicknesses before he now met another one that eventually claimed his life on the glorious day."
A neighbour, who claimed anonymity, said that the deceased person was highly preparing to celebrate his father’s 90 years anniversary in a grand style before he met his untimely death on Sunday.
Mr. Joseph has been buried in his house along Offa Garage Road, where he hoped to pack into very soon and put an end to tenement before the end of this year.
Residents are therefore warned to avoid unapproved railway crossing points so as to curb reoccurrence of such incidence.
