The Kwara State chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women's Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) on Friday held its Annual National Education Summit in Ilorin, in collaboration with the Brain Builder Youths Development Initiatives.

The summit, themed "AI Literacy Training: Understanding and using AI, starting from your own phone," focused on equipping members with practical knowledge of artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on responsible usage, digital safety, and how everyday users can engage AI tools effectively.

It also featured broader discussions under the umbrella theme "The Ummah in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges, Opportunities and Responsibilities," aimed at helping participants understand both the benefits and risks of adopting AI technologies in daily life.

Delivering a lecture at the event, the Director of Communications at Brain Builder Youths Development Initiatives, Sanni Alausa Issa, cautioned participants against sharing sensitive personal information such as bank details, private images, and other confidential data when interacting with AI platforms. He stressed the importance of digital awareness and safe prompting practices.

Also speaking at the summit, the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olalekan Olohungbebe, assured the association that their request for a bus would be communicated to the Kwara State Government for consideration.

The summit reinforced growing efforts within the state to promote digital literacy, particularly among women and youth, as AI continues to reshape education, communication, and development practices.
