PDP Kwara Suspends Governorship Aspirant Ladi Hassan Over Anti-Party Activities

Date: 2026-06-03

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has suspended a governorship aspirant, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, over allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

The development was disclosed in a suspension letter issued by the Magaji Ngeri Ward Executive Committee in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state on 2 June 2026.

According to the letter, Hassan had earlier been notified of allegations of anti-party activities in a correspondence dated 30 May 2026, and was directed to appear before a seven-man committee constituted by the ward within 48 hours.

The Ward Executive Committee stated that Hassan failed to honour the invitation and said the action amounted to an admission of the allegations levelled against him.

The committee stated that the suspension was carried out in line with Sections 57 and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which provide disciplinary measures for members found guilty of offences.

"Your failure to comply constitutes an admission of guilt of anti-party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct, all of which contravene the principles and code of conduct of the Party," the letter stated.

The party consequently suspended Hassan from all party activities and functions for a period of one month.

"The Ward Executive Committee hereby suspends you from all Party activities and functions for a period of one month, with effect from the date of this letter," the committee added.

The letter further directed Hassan to refrain from participating in meetings, programmes and activities of the party at the ward, local government, state and national levels during the period of suspension.
