APC Elders Caucus Praises AbdulRazaq Over Endorsement of Yahaya Seriki
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Caucus in Kwara Central Senatorial District has expressed support for the endorsement of Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as the party's governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kwara State.
The caucus also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what it described as his foresight in endorsing Seriki's candidature.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the group's coordinator, Razaq Lawal; chairman, Mustapha Kobe; secretary, Gani Alawo; and Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Sheu AbdulSalam, popularly known as Cement.
According to the caucus, the combination of Governor AbdulRazaq as leader of the APC in the state and Ambassador Yahaya Seriki would strengthen the party's chances of victory in the 2027 general elections.
The group described Seriki as a grassroots politician and business magnate who enjoys widespread support among youths due to his philanthropic activities.
The caucus urged party loyalists and supporters to abide by the governor's decision, describing AbdulRazaq as a pragmatic leader committed to youth and women development.
It expressed confidence that Seriki would sustain and improve upon the developmental strides of the current administration, particularly in youth empowerment, women inclusion and infrastructural development.
The endorsement followed reports that Governor AbdulRazaq had named Ambassador Yahaya Seriki as his preferred successor among the governorship aspirants within the party.
According to a statement reportedly issued in Ilorin, the governor said the decision was reached after extensive consultations with party leaders and structures across the state.
AbdulRazaq was quoted as describing Seriki as young, pro-people, astute and broad-minded, adding that he has remained a strong political mobiliser within the APC.
