Kwara North Senatorial Aspirant Commends APC Screening Committee
A Kwara North Senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Taoheed Daud Toyin, has commended the party's Senate Screening Committee for what he described as a transparent and credible exercise, while also pledging loyalty to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Engr. Taoheed, who has just completed the mandatory screening exercise for aspirants seeking the party's senatorial ticket, said the committee demonstrated fairness, diligence and professionalism throughout the process.
In a statement issued after the screening panel, the aspirant praised the committee for providing equal opportunity to all contestants to present their qualifications and programmes.
"I commend the party screening committee for doing a good job. The process was fair, transparent and reflective of the democratic ideals our party upholds," he said.
The APC chieftain also pledged to abide by the outcome of the exercise, assuring party members of his continued commitment to the ruling party regardless of the eventual decision of the leadership.
"I promise to abide by all the outcomes of this exercise and pledge my unalloyed loyalty to our great party, the APC. I remain a committed and loyal member, ready to support the party's decision and work collectively toward victory in the 2027 general elections," he stated.
Engr. Taoheed further used the opportunity to canvass for equity and fairness in the consideration of aspirants for the Kwara North Senate seat.
According to him, Moro Local Government Area has not produced a senator or member of the House of Representatives in the district for 24 years.
"For 24 years of exclusion, Moro Local Government Area has produced zero Senators and zero Representatives, while Baruten, Kaiama, Edu and Patigi have held the seat for 24 years," he said.
He appealed to the screening committee to consider "merit, equity, justice, fairness and unity" in recommending candidates for the senatorial ticket.
"The screening panel stands at a crossroads of history. Its recommendation can either perpetuate 24 years of injustice or usher in a new era of equity for Moro and unity for Kwara North.
"Moro has waited long enough. Time for consideration is now, and time for action is now. I humbly appeal that the panel kindly consider Moro for the 2027 Senate seat," he added.
