Nigeria has many corrupt people — Ex ICPC boss
The retired jurist, who expressed his displeasure over the high rate said its eradication should be the collective responsibility of all Nigerians.
Speaking at the presentation of book “ Appreciating Criminal Law in Nigeria”, by John Koni Ifeolu Esq, a legal practitioner in Ilorin, Justice Akanbi said “ there are too many corrupted people in this country, we have to fight them as a team.
“We must read because reading makes a man. I just want positive change in this country”.
The former ICPC boss urged lawyers and youths to fight corruption at all levels to redeem the nation’s image.
In his remarks, the grand Khadi of Kwara State, Justice Idrish Haroon agreed that the level of corruption was high in the country but only collective role could change the trend.
The Grand Khadi noted that Nigerians must be more courageous to say the truth and do good deeds irrespective of the situation stressing that those behind embezzlement of public funds could not bring honour to the country but shame.
He added, his 19 years in the classroom had exposed him to discipline, honesty pointed out that the book launcher had contributed positively to the nation’s development.
