NIC: UNILORIN ASUU passes vote of confidence on its leaders
Members of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities,(ASUU) University of Ilorin chapter have passed a vote of confidence on its chairman, Abdulwahab Egbewole and other executive officers of the union.
The leadership of the Union had reportedly been sacked by the National Industrial Court (NIC) in a suit filed by the national leadership of the ASUU.
The union in their resolutions issued after its emergency meeting held at the university however affirmed its recognition of the leadership.
The resolution which was made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday was signed by its chairman, Egbewole and the secretary, Patrick Balogun.
The union also dissociated itself from the recent ruling from the National Industrial Court that restrained it from performing its constitutional duties as the ASUU of the university.
The statement read in part: “The ASUU Unilorin chapter is not a party to the case before the National Industrial Court and was not heard in the matter and therefore should not be involved in the matter”.
“The ASUU Unilorin has not been served with a copy of any order of court setting aside the election of Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole led executive council of the union in the university.”
It said that the union will remain one indivisible body and will continue to be focussed on the welfare of its members.
