The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, led a high-level federal delegation on a courtesy and condolence visit to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

The delegation, which included the Minister of State, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, and the Permanent Secretary (and Kwara indigene), Dr. Shuaib Belgore, arrived in the state capital for the annual National Council of Housing, Lands, and Urban Development meeting.

Minister Dangiwa informed the Emir that the visit served a dual purpose: to seek royal blessings for the national summit and to offer the Ministry's heartfelt condolences to the Ilorin Emirate and the people of Kwara State following the passing of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Mohammad Bashir Soliu. He prayed for the repose of the soul of the late cleric, describing his death as a significant loss to the nation.

Dr. Shuaib Belgore noted that the Council meeting has brought together key stakeholders from across Nigeria to deliberate on sustainable urban development and land management policies. Furthermore, the Director of Special Projects, Tunde Ajayi, emphasized that Ilorin was strategically chosen as the host city due to its growing importance as a regional hub for housing and infrastructure.

The Emir, in his response, appreciated the delegation for the visit and commended the Ministry for its efforts in tackling Nigeria's housing deficit. The National Council meeting is expected to conclude with a roadmap for more affordable and sustainable urban living across the federation.
