The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji, on Tuesday, officially unveiled the maiden edition of the North Central Amputee Football League, with the competition scheduled to be held in Ilorin from 14-16 December 2025.

Amputee football teams from Niger, Plateau, hosts Kwara, and others will compete in what is set to become a flagship sporting event for persons with disabilities in the North Central zone.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Mallam Mogaji expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose unwavering support for both mainstream and disability sports continues to drive the state's impressive sports transformation.

He noted that the Governor's commitment to inclusion and athlete empowerment remains a catalyst for the steady rise of sporting activities in Kwara.

Mogaji also commended the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation and the Special Eagles captain and North Central representative, Sarafadeen Oyeleke, for their vision, advocacy, and commitment in bringing the league to life.

Oyeleke, who had shared the league's vision with The PUNCH, is optimistic that other regions will follow suit.

"It has been our dream to have an amputee football league across the country. We have had different types of leagues before but sustaining them has been challenging," he stated.
