UNILORIN to Purchase 100 Electric Vehicles to Ease Student Movement

Date: 2025-11-14

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), has announced a plan by the institution to purchase 100 electric vehicles to ease the movement of students.

Egbewole gave the assurance in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, praising the students for their responsible behaviour in the face of the frustrating transportation challenge.

"Please be assured that the buses we are expecting are to be delivered within days from now. Because of our empathy for you, our students, the university is making arrangements for at least 100 electric vehicles which we hope will be delivered within days," he assured.

He acknowledged the spirit of volunteering displayed by some students and commended the orderliness they have maintained despite the "excruciating challenges."

The Vice Chancellor explained that the decision to relocate the park, along with other recent measures, was primarily taken for the university community's "safety and security with other gains in the long run."

It is not to punish our very dear and admirable students but to further protect you and your property", he added.

He added that the management team was not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that the transportation challenge is resolved without any delay.
