Security Guard Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Drivers

Date: 2025-06-15

A security guard, identified as Lanre Ismael, has been killed in a hit-and-run incident on Unity Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The attack occurred around midnight on Saturday, according to sources.

Ismael, who was en route to commence his night shift at an establishment along Yidi Road, was struck by a car and subsequently run over by additional vehicles on the highway.

It was revealed that the deceased had been released from duty by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, earlier that day following allegations that shops under his supervision had recently been burgled.

His remains were buried in Ilorin according to Islamic rites on Saturday morning. Attempts to reach the NSCDC's state spokesperson, Ayoola Michael Shola, for comment on Sunday were unsuccessful.
