Over 220 Beneficiaries Get Food Packages at Kwara's Ramadan Relief Drive in Ilorin
Over 220 widows and disadvantaged individuals in Kwara State have received food supplies and Ramadan packages to ease their hardships during the holy month.
The distribution event, flagged off in Ilorin and sponsored by the Chairman of the Islamic Missionaries Association of Nigeria (IMAN), Sheikh Abdullahi Nurudeen-Adana, saw the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Sheikh Oba Salman-Solagberu, emphasise the spiritual reward of supporting the needy.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Salman-Solagberu urged wealthy Muslims to prioritise assisting the poor, stating that charitable acts during Ramadan hold particular significance. He cautioned against unjust criticism of government institutions at both state and federal levels, clarifying that their role is to serve and guide the nation rather than distribute material resources.
The imam concluded his remarks by encouraging Nigerians to place their trust in divine providence for sustenance, while reaffirming the importance of communal support for vulnerable groups.
On his part, the Donor and Chairman of the Islamic Missionaries Association of Nigeria (IMAN), Sheikh Abdullahi Nurudeen-Adana said that the distribution of the foodstuff to the less privileged was meant to reduce their hardship.
He called on wealthy individuals to assist the needy, by providing financial and another source of income to enable them to live a good life.
