Health Commissioner Calls on Afon Residents to Leverage Newly Renovated Medical Facility
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring all residents have access to quality healthcare, promoting healthier living conditions statewide.
This assurance was provided by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, during the unveiling of the newly renovated General Hospital in Afon, the headquarters of Asa Local Government Area.
Dr El-Imam reiterated the administration’s dedication to delivering high-standard healthcare services and urged the people of Afon and surrounding areas to fully utilise the facility while supporting the government’s efforts to ensure its proper maintenance.
She highlighted that the significant investment in renovating and equipping the hospital is aimed at improving the welfare of grassroots communities. The commissioner added that this milestone project aligns with the state government’s broader initiative to enhance healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across Kwara.
She therefore, called on the Asa Local Government Council, to take ownership of the facility by ensuring proper maintenance, effective supervision, and increased patronage.
Dr El-Imam thereafter, appealed to stakeholders to support healthcare empowerments by sponsoring health insurance enrollment, for vulnerable members of their various communities.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, member, representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, Hon. Seun Oguniyi, also disclosed that the upgraded hospital now has the capacity to adequately serve Afon and neighboring communities, commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for prioritizing the health and well-being of good people of Kwara State.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Yahyah Shehu thanked the state government for its kind gesture towards the people, charging residents to continue supporting this administration, for them to further benefit from developmental project and other dividends of democracy.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including; Member representing Afon Constituency, Hon. Yinusa Oniboki; Member representing Owode Onire Constituency, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, community Leaders and other key stakeholders in Asa Local Government.
