Kwara Governor Breaks Fast with Religious Leaders Amid Prayer for Slain MACBAN Chairman

Date: 2025-03-11

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, joined Christian and Muslim leaders, including the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kwara and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Rev. Sunday Adewole, for an iftar dinner on Sunday night. The event took place during the holy month of Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection and communal bonding.

During the gathering, the governor and attendees also offered prayers for the late Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Abubakar Idris, who was shot dead earlier that day. The attack occurred at the entrance of Idris's residence in Oke-Ose , a suburb of Ilorin, the state capital, by unidentified gunmen.

The iftar underscored interfaith solidarity in Kwara State, with Governor AbdulRazaq emphasizing the importance of unity amid ongoing security challenges and developmental goals.

Former Chairman of the Federal Character Commissionn, Professor Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem, who spoke on behalf of other guests at the iftar described the governor as “thoughtful, caring and a bridge builder”.

He said stakeholders at the iftar who included politicians, top government functionaries, artisans, captain of industries, journalists and legal practitioners must work together to handover “most peaceful banner to our children”
