Date: 2025-02-10

A hit-and-run incident has claimed the life of a student from the University of Ilorin Nursing School, while leaving another injured.

The tragedy occurred over the weekend at approximately 9pm near the Amilengbe campus. The students were returning from a night class when they stopped to buy bread. It was during this time that the accident took place, with the driver fleeing the scene without rendering any assistance.

The deceased is said to be a two hundred level nursing student.

“The hit-and-run driver knocked them down in the process and killed one of them instantly while the other was injured and rushed to the hospital,” a witness said.

When contacted, the provost of the college, Mrs Abdulmalik, confirmed the incident.

She said, “The accident involved two nursing students. One of the victims died, while the other is currently at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) receiving treatment.”
