14-Year-Old Ibrahim Jamiu Wins 7th Skylarks' 11-km Omu-Aran Marathon
Ibrahim Jamiu, a 14-year-old student from Omu-Aran High School, has clinched the top spot in the male category of the 7th Skylarks' 11-km Omu-Aran Marathon, completing the race in an impressive 38 minutes and 22 seconds.
In the female category, Temitope Ajiboye from Aperan Comprehensive College emerged victorious, finishing the race in 43 minutes and 36 seconds, beating other contenders.
The event highlighted the athletic prowess of young talents from Omu-Aran and its environs, with participants showcasing remarkable endurance and determination.
Daniel Olasehinde of Ofe Aran Commercial College came 2nd in the male category with a time of 38 mins 38 secs while AbdulAzeez Musa of Aperan Comprehensive College finished in the 3rd position with a time of 39 mins 42 secs.
Oyinkan Olaniyi of Omu-Aran High School picked up the silver medal in the female category with a time of 44 mins 39 secs while Adeyemi Bode of Ofe Aran Commercial College finished the race in 48 mins 10 secs to win the bronze medal.
The President of Skylarks Club of Omu-Aran, Elder James Sangoyomi, congratulated the winners and asked them to embrace Sports and make a career out of it.
He presented the athletes with cash prizes and the school for raising good marathon athletes.
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, who congratulated the athletes urged them to marry Sports and education as well as shunning social vices not to kill their future dreams in sports in the future.
Member representing Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in Kwara, Hon. Tunji Olawuyi, announced scholarships up to the University level for the two winners
