Kwara FA to Sanction Clubs Over Breach of Football Regulations
According to Punch, the Kwara State Football Association has announced its intention to sanction clubs and affiliated organisations that fail to comply with football administration regulations, particularly concerning organised tournaments in the state.
A memorandum, signed by the association's secretary, Mohammed Agaka, was released on Saturday and shared with select media outlets in Ilorin. The document outlines potential penalties for violations, which include the cancellation of competitions, suspension, revocation of organisational licences or rights, and the imposition of fines.
“All affiliates, organisations, clubs, private sectors, and government agencies are prohibited from hosting football competitions within Kwara State without the explicit consent and approval of the Kwara State Football Association.
“Any competition organised without our endorsement will be deemed null and void,” Agaka articulated in the communication distributed to pertinent entities, including the Kwara state government.
The memo was copied to the Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Kwara State Sports Commission (KSC), Kwara State Police Command, Department of State Services (DSS), and the General Secretary of the NFF.
KWSFA emphasised the necessity of issuing the stern warning following numerous instances of blatant disregard for the regulations, particularly among key stakeholders in the state's football community.
“The objective is to ensure adherence to the rules and regulations of the Kwara State Football Association, as well as national/international football guidelines, and to uphold the standards and quality of competitions in the state, safeguarding the interests of players, officials, and stakeholders,” Agaka further elaborated.
