Other personalities at the occasion were a former President Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, Justice Seidu Kawu, justice Abdulkadir Orire, Alhaji Saka Saadu, Alhaji Umar Saro, Senator Shaba Lafiagi, the former acting chairman of PDP Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, a former Minister of Sport, Hon. Bio Ibrahim, Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali and his KWASU counterpart, Professor Abdul Rasheed Na ‘Allah.
Also in attendance were the Secretary to Kwara State Government (SSG) Alhaji Isiaka Gold, traditional rulers across the state, Baloguns in Ilorin Emirate, professional bodies, political associations, academia, and top government officials in the state.
In his sermon at the Fidau held at Oke Apomu, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, an Ilorin-based Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Sulaiman Danboronu, admonished people to attach importance to the treatment of their parents, saying that the more one takes good care of his parents the better for him on the day of resurrection.
Danboronu who described parents as determinants of child’s success in life and mostly in the hereafter said some people will enter paradise because of the relationship that exist between them and his parents and vice-versa.
The cleric therefore admonished Muslims to always offer prayers for their parents living and most especially the departed ones, saying “it is expected of every Muslim faithful to always seek for their forgiveness and that of their parents”.
Leading the prayer session, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammed Soliu Bashir, prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give those she left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Imam Bashir described late Munirat Sagaya as a God-fearing person who used her wealth and health to propagate Islam, saying that the family and Ilorin particular would miss her a lot.
In an interview with press men shortly after the prayer session, one of the children of the deceased, Engineer Lanre Sagaya described his mother as accommodating, loving, caring, considerate, enterprising and God-fearing, saying that they will miss her a lot.
