Governor AbdulRazaq Mourns Passing Of Sports Legend, Ladipo
The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed his condolences to the family of Pa Gabriel Ladipo and the sports community in Nigeria following the passing of the esteemed sports figure, educator, and mentor.
According to a news report from LEADERSHIP, Pa Oladipo was a pioneering figure, being the first black principal of the Government Technical Training School (GTTS) in Ilorin. He was revered for his exceptional leadership contributions to both the education and sports industries in Nigeria.
A versatile and dedicated sportsman, Pa Ladipo excelled as an athlete, coach, referee, and esteemed sports administrator. He chaired the Kwara State Sports Promotion Committee, which evolved into the Kwara State Sports Council, serving as its inaugural chairman. Additionally, he led the Kwara Stadium Development Committee and held numerous other leadership roles in the national sports sector.
In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq reflected on Ladipo's passing as the end of a magnificent era in Nigerian sports, noting that his legacy will forever be cherished. The governor offered his sympathies and prayers, asking for divine comfort for Pa Ladipo's family and peace for the departed soul.
