Nigerian Author Oluwaseun Awogbenle Joins University of Ilorin Advocates Council
According to a news report from This Day, Oluwaseun Awogbenle, a Nigerian author and youth advocate, has been appointed as a member of the University of Ilorin Advocates Council by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN.
Awogbenle was formally inaugurated into the council on Thursday, alongside other distinguished alumni of the university. The primary objective of the Council is to champion and enhance the university’s principles, activities, accomplishments, and interests both locally and internationally.
Among the notable alumni appointed to the council are actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, social media influencer Nosa Adeyemi (popularly known as Lasisi Elenu), former Big Brother Nigeria housemate Omololu Shomuyiwa, actress and filmmaker Bukola Awoyemi, actress and filmmaker Wunmi Toriola, and Lukman Shobowale, co-founder of Dukiya Investments, among others.
Awogbenle expressed his gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a significant honour. He sees this opportunity not only as a means to give back to his alma mater but also as a platform to positively influence the experiences of current and future generations of students.
“I welcome my appointment to the University of Ilorin Advocates Council. I consider it the highest honour to get a chance to give back to a university that has had a tremendous impact on my life. The strong foundation of knowledge and character principles that I acquired at the university have proved very valuable to me and have remained my guiding light over the years.
“The objective of the council especially resonates with my passion for education as a core requirement for development. I am therefore inspired knowing that the work we will be doing on the council will shape the experience of current students and make a major difference for generations to come.”
Awogbenle said that the University of Ilorin has, for the last decade, become Nigeria’s institution of first choice, not just for its quality but also for its stability, saying that the track record of the university already speaks for itself.
“The University of Ilorin has remained a torchbearer of hope and a symbol of what is possible within Nigeria’s tertiary education system. Over the last decade, the university has established itself as the university of first choice for many young people in Nigeria and the sub-region.
“I have no doubt that our work will help to strengthen and consolidate current efforts and expand the access of the university to a global audience. I therefore express my renewed commitment to the sustained growth and transformation of the university as a tower of excellence and beacon of light for the next generation of leaders.”
