Kwara Reads Riot Act to Substandard Private School Operators
Kwara State Government has issued a three-month ultimatum to all substandard and unregistered private schools in the state.
The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, gave the ultimatum Wednesday in Ilorin, during a meeting with the owners of unregistered private schools across the state.
Hajia Modibbo frowned at the inability of some owners of private schools to comply with the regulations guiding the establishment of private schools, warning that the state government would not hesitate to take necessary actions against private schools intending to sabotage its efforts.
The commissioner, who advised the illegal operators of private schools in the state to ensure they follow due process in establishing and registering their schools, expressed dismay over substandard schools which are not in the interest of the children whom she described as the future of the state.
“The government will not compromise its standard. A solid and efficient foundational learning is key and the right of every child”, Modibbo declared.
In a remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, added that “the Ministry will not relent in regulating, approving and monitoring of private schools.
“We will ensure adequate inspection of both private and public educational institutions for quality assurance and standards.”
