Road Encroachment: Kwara Town Planning Warns Residents
Following the demolish of illegal extension of over 5,000 shops for road encroachment along Muritala-Maraba and old Jebba roads in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, residents of the State have been advised to desist from encroaching roadsides.
The Executive Secretary of Town Planning and Development Authority, Mr. Raimi Adeoti, who made the warning on monday during in an interview with Royal Times correspondent, said the demolition would be a continuous exercise until the state regains its beauty.
Adeoti stressed that government would not fold its arms and watch illegal occupants tarnish the aesthetic beauty of the state, especially, Ilorin, the state capital, adding that anybody who re-occupy the place will be charged to court.
He noted that an ideal road should be within the range of twelve to fourteen meters, adding that the exercise was also meant to allow the provision of utility lines such as water main, electricity poles, armored cable and optic fibre cable for GSM providers.
According to him, the exercise will allow the free flow of traffic along the major roads within the metropolis.
He therefore advised traders to cooperate with the state government, stressing that anyone found disobeying the law of the land would be prosecuted.
