Date: 2023-09-14

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has commiserated with King Mohammed VI of Morocco over the unfortunate incident of a devastating earthquake which claimed lives of several thousands of people a few days ago.

SOLACEBASE reports that Alhaji Sulu-Gambari who was perturbed over the massive loss of lives to the natural disaster directed clerics to offer special prayers in mosques across the Ilorin Emirate and beyond, seeking Allah's absolute protection and control of the recurrence of such ugly situation in Morocco and globally.

He stated this in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, on Wednesday, stressing that, “Loss of lives, affliction of injuries and extensive damage of valuable properties in Morrocco as a result of the earthquake is unfortunate, worrisome and saddening.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari said: “Your Majesty, King Mohammed VI, I was deeply touched and devastated to receive the news of the earthquake that has killed several lives and damaged infrastructures. I wish to inform you of our deepest feelings of pain orchestrated by the terrible consequences of this disaster as well as our deepest condolences at this moment of grief and uncertainty.

“The people of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State in general are with you in prayers and strong solidarity, especially with my deepfelt condolences. I wish to assure Your Royal Majesty of our brotherly support, a show of love, and sympathy at this time. Kindly convey my condolences and sympathy to those bereaved, to those otherwise afflicted by this terrible natural disaster, and to the people of the Kingdom of Morocco.”

The message reads: “In this moment of profound grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident. We share in your sorrow and stand in solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco.

“May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant the bereaved families the strength and patience to bear their loss. I beseech the Almighty for the swift recovery of the injured and the rapid restoration of peace, tranquility, and development across the entire Kingdom of Morocco.

“I urge all Muslims within my Emirate and beyond to join us in fervent prayers for the well-being and recovery of the affected region, and for the resilience of Morocco in the face of this adversity.

“Our thoughts and support are with you during this challenging time, and we stand ready to assist in any way possible.”
