Baba Issa Becomes Substantive Medical Director, FNPH Budo-Egba
The appointment of Prof. Baba Awoye Issa as the substantive Medical Director of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Budo-Egba, Kwara State has been confirmed by the president, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The notification was contained in a letter written from the Secretary General of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, dated August 7, 2023.
The letter directed the Ministry to issue a letter of confirmation of the appointment to Baba Issa and 12 others appointed in similar capacities as heads of the various health institutions in the country.
Baba Issa, a professor of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, until his appointment, was the acting Medical Director of the institution which is the first of its kind in the whole of the North Central geopolitical zone and which was facilitated by the immediate past Kwara Central Senator, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe who also headed the Senate Committee on Health in the 9th Assembly.
The institution which has since begun activities in line with the purpose of its establishment was the first Federal institution to be located in Kwara State since 1992 and one of the very few health institutions established by the immediate past administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Baba Issa hailed from Ogbondoroko in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State and was an academic staff of the University of Ilorin and a consultant at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital before his secondment to Budo-Egba as the acting MD of the institution on January 1st, 2022. He was also an erstwhile chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Kwara State branch
