Kwara NSCDC deploys 2,500 personnel for general elections

Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim, has deployed 2,500 personnel for Saturday's 2023 general elections in the 16 local government areas of the state.
A statement by the spokesman of the defence corps, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, in Ilorin on Thursday, said the deployment was done to ensure a hitch-free election and to secure lives and properties of Nigerians before, during and after the exercise.
The Commandant commended the people of Kwara state for their peaceful nature.
He said the corps will never take their peaceful nature for granted, adding that the civil defence command “shall do everything possible to sustain and maintain the peace in the state.”
Tukur encouraged the personnel to uphold the dignity and the integrity of the corps while discharging their duty during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The commandant appealed to the youths to desist from any act of violence or actions that could undermine the peace of the society.
He also admonished politicians to adhere strictly to the rules given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
