No APC chairman suspended in Kwara – Party
The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressive Congress on Saturday distanced itself from the suspension of the Chairman of Moro Local Government Area chapter of the party, Adebayo Jimoh.
Jimoh, was said to have been suspended by 17-member APC executives led by the Public Relations Officer of the party in the local government, Adebayo Saka, over an alleged fraud.
In a report that has since gone viral, Saka who spoke during a press conference in Ilorin on Friday, alleged that the APC Moro Local Government Chairman diverted money meant for logistics of delegates during the last All Progressives Congress primaries in Kwara state.
The group also accused Jimoh of anti-party activities.
According to him, all efforts to get Jimoh to defend all the allegations leveled against him proved abortive.
Speaking with The PUNCH on the matter, the APC Kwara State Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, said he is unaware of the development.
He said, “I'm currently not around and am not aware of such development. When I return, I will be briefed and get back to you on it.”

On his part, the APC State's publicity secretary, Tajudeen Aro, said, “No chairman is on suspension”, stressing that any allegation is expected to follow the party's constitutional provision. He said, “There was no such meeting in regards to that, one thing is very clear, there is no chairman that is on suspension as far as I know.
“And if there is any need for any local government to suspend the party chairman, there are constitutional provisions and procedures to do that. And in the past few months now there is no report of any party chairman misbehaving, no report of any chairman on fund mismanagement.”
Reacting to the report, the embattled Moro LG APC Chairman, Adebayo Jimoh, stated that the group lacks the power to suspend him.
“Is that the way of probing? We have a constitution. They have no power to suspend me. The constitution does not allow somebody to just come out and say he is suspending somebody. There is due process and they have no power to suspend me,” Jimoh said
Speaking further on the allegation of fraud, he said, “Well, I cannot defend myself, we have other executives. I don't need to worry about such an issue.”
