Date: 2012-11-27

In fulfilling his promise to visit different segments and organs of the University of Ilorin with a view to having first-hand information about their situations, the vice-chancellor, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali has visited units, centers and divisions of the university.

Ambali and his delegation visited and interacted with the leaders and heads of various units, including the Directorate Of Corporate Affairs, Unilorin 89.3 FM, Unilorin Archives and Documentation Centre, Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, Linguistic Immersion Centre, General Studies Division and Centre for International Education.

Also on Friday, the vice-chancellor and his team visited and assessed the state of facilities at the National Centre for Hydropower Research and Development, NACHRED, University Press, University Guest House and its catering section, among others, on the Mini Campus.

Speaking on his duty tour to various centres and segments of the University, Prof. Ambali expressed satisfaction that the staffs of the University are hard working, while he urged organisations and individuals that are goal-driven like the university to partner it in order to achieve more of the dream of the founding fathers.

At the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the VC commended the leadership and staff for projecting the image of the university through educative, informative and entertaining news reports and analyses on Unilorin 89.3 and in Unilorin Bulletin and urged staffs to put more efforts in their schedules.

At the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, he assured that the challenges of the centre would be overcome with the approval of the honoraria of some staff and the relocation of the centre to its newly commissioned office while the commitment of the university was stressed to the promotion of the mandates of the Centre for International Education and the General Studies Division.

While receiving the vice-chancellor's delegation at NACHRED, the director identified the need for more funds for research and more senior manpower.

Ambali however noted that with the investment of about N10 million by the university in the dam through research, he was hopeful that the dam would still be positioned to generate hydro-electric power for the teeming members of the university community.
