Kwara United's Biffo heads to U.S. for urgent medical treatment
Kwara United head coach Abdullahi Biffo has been granted some days to travel to the United States for urgent medical treatment.
A statement by the club's media department confirmed this on Thursday in Ilorin.
Biffo was in the U.S. before the start of the 20212022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season for eye surgery and other medical attention.
“For some days now, Biffo has been having some health issues which prompted him to make arrangement to go to the U.S. where he was treated last year,” the statement quoted the club's Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, as saying.
He wished the coach a quick recovery, assuring that the club has not hired any replacement as being speculated.
“We are not hiring another coach because Biffo will soon return after his treatment in the U.S. His assistants will be in charge in subsequent games,” Titiloye added.
Kwara United will play the NPFL match Day 30 against Akwa United on Saturday in Ilorin and will be handled by Lukman Ijaiya and Mukaila Iyala.
Ijaiya and Iyala have for years been working as youth coaches at Kwara United before their recent elevation as assistant coaches in the main team.
