Indigenes of Erin-Ile Charged on Community Development
Indigenes of Kwara State, home and in the disapora have been challenged to think positively on what they could do to improve the abundant resources abound in the state.
The Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Ibrahim Olusokun II, gave the challenge in his message at the 15th edition of Erin-Ile day celebration in Oyun Local Government Area of the state held at Erin-Ile Secondary SchooL
The traditional ruler also pleaded with all sons and daughters of Erin Ile to ensure that peace reigned supreme among them so that they could be able to bring development to the area.
Also speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the Erin-Ile Day central working committee, Mr Israel Olorundare, said the community had in the past embarked on self-help development projects, adding that the money realised at the launch had been channelled towards adding value to the community.
National president of Erin-Ile Progressive Union (EPU), Captain Muritala Salami (etd), said Erin-Ile Day celebration affords the indigenes of the town to pay homage to their traditional ruler, celebrate their culture, a renewal and stock taking as well as an avenue to reunite and discuss on how to move the community forward.
Captain Salami also said that the community is blessed with abundant natural resources, urging investors to make use of the opportunity to invest in the town, appealing to indigenes of the town to contribute individually and collectively to the development of their father land.
He also appealed to the Kwara state government to, as a matter of urgency rehabilitate the deplorable Ajase Ipo-Offa-Erin Ile road in order to bring relief to all its users.
Governor Ahmed, who was represented on the occasion by the Secretary to Kwara state Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, assured that the present administration in the state would continue to support the communities that embark on self-help projects for the development of the people and the state.
The governor said that government would spend N600 million on rehabilitation of Ajase Ipo-Erin-Ile road to make the road motorable.
He lauded the Elerin of Erin-lIe, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Ibrahim Olusokun II, for maintaining peace with the neighbouring communities in the area.
