Train Passengers sit in toilets in Ilorin

Date: 2012-11-04

Thousands of passengers this morning besieged the Ilorin Railway Station to board the train going from Ilorin to Ibadan and Lagos.

At the Ilorin terminus the train which took off at 9 a.m. was overloaded with both passengers and luggages.

Some people sat at the stinky toilets, while some stood at the train joints. Some were also standing inside the train, which made it crowded.

Some passengers said the train was crowded due to its price and safety. Others condemned the rate at which the train with about fifteen coaches was overloaded and called on the attention of the authorities concerned to check it.

They also stressed the need for the train to extend its service to atleast thrice per week to enable people to travel with it and reduce the rate at which it has been overloaded.
