Date: 2020-09-24

The Kwara State Government has commiserated with Ilorin South Local Government Council over the fire incident that gutted the official Chalet of the Council situated along Fate Road in Ilorin.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen made the commiseration when he visited the scene of the fire incident to asses the extent of the damage.

The Commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by the Chairman, Kwara State Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero and other top government officials, described the inferno as rather unfortunate. According to him, the ugly fire incident was at a time when the recent rainstorm in Ilorin had destroyed properties worth millions of naira and render many people homeless.

Arc. Saifuddeen directed the Council to avail his office with a comprehensive report on the cause of the inferno in order to ascertain the level of damage and prevent future occurrence.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero commended the Commissioner for his timely visit despite his busy schedule.

Shero assured that necessary measures would be put in place to forestall future occurrence.

The Director, Personnel Management of Ilorin South Local Government, Hajia Balkis Bello had earlier briefed the Commissioner of how she received a distress call at about 7:30 pm on Sunday that the Council's Chalet was on fire.

She explained that she immediately swung into action by informing the State Fire Service for its intervention, pointing out that before the arrival of the fire fighters at the scene of the incident, the entire building had been razed down. Oba Azeez,
