5,000 Kwara students for SAF conference

Date: 2020-03-17

No fewer than 5,000 students studying in different tertiary institutions in Kwara State will participate in the Science Awareness Conference scheduled to hold on March 21.

The Country Director of SAF, Mrs Peace Nnabugwu, at a briefing in Lagos, said the conference with the theme, 'Innovate Kwara,' would hold at the University of Ilorin.

She said the conference would feature the Kwara-UNILORIN Innovation Hackathon to exhibit technology innovations in the area of renewable energy developed to address local problems by about 50 teams of students.

"Teaching science subjects should be innovative and fun if we are to get young people to participate in it. It is the responsibility of teachers and mentors to come up with innovative ways of teaching young people and getting them interested in science and technology.

"Every problem is a viable business opportunity. By identifying a problem and proffering a solution, more jobs would also be made available," Nnabuwu said.
