KWARA UNITED FC SURE OF STABILITY DESPITE DRAW WITH SUNSHINE STARS

Date: 2020-01-19

Despite playing out a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars in the Match Day 16 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Ilorin today, Coach Abdullahi Biffo is optimistic his team will attain stability, and also end well at the end of the season.

The team was forced to a goalless draw at the backdrop of an away win over Akwa United midweek in Uyo, in a match which brought out the best from the two sides.

The highly technical and tactical encounter kept spectators and fans at the edge of their benches throughout the period, as the two teams produced best of actions.

The two goalkeepers, Abdullateef Ishola for Kwara United FC and Olorunleke Ojo for Sunshine were virtually on holiday in most part of the game, picking mostly stray or blocked balls.

Kwara United entered the game with the hope of breaking Sunshine Stars jinx, as record shows that the Akure Gunners have not lost in Ilorin for three consecutive seasons.

Coach Biffo said that the two points dropped at home cannot be termed as setback, because his team is capable of making up for the loss in the remaining away matches in the season.

'The result, though not encouraging, was not really a setback, because I so much believed in my boys to grind out results in subsequent games, especially in away matches, to make up for the dropped points', he averred.

Coach Kabir Dogo of Sunshine Stars however, believed his influence, especially as 'a son of the soil', made the difference in the outcome of the crucial encounter.

He expressed satisfaction with the one point gained in the match, describing it as a crucial point for his team.

"The point we got here is highly important, as it will advance our course in the league, and we will continue to work hard and improve from game to game. We started the league badly, but we are now back, and back for better", he said.

With the draw, Kwara United FC now have 20 points from 16 matches, and with next Sunday, play away to Adamawa FC.
