Attempted Murder Lands One in Prison
One Daniel Olaitan Dada of Ayetoro compound, Oro-Ago, Kwara State, who allegedly made an attempt to kill a man, has been remanded at the Federal Medium Security Prison Mandala, Ilorin.
The order to remand the 36 years old accused was made by an Ilorin Magistrate court, before which he appeared on a two court charge of criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation, contrary to section 97 and 397 of penal code.
The accused was said to have conspired with one other now at large and trailed one Honorable Femi Oladokun with their car along Omu-Aran Ilorin road Kwara state.
The accused in an attempt to kill Hon. Oladokun allegedly fired rounds of shot at him.
The victim had on September 17, 2012 wrote a petition to the commissioner of police, Kwara state command that while he was coming from Osi in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara state, he was pursued by the accused and one Adeyemi Rufus now at large.
According to the complainant, the accused trailed him with a car from Somonra junction up to Amoyo, Kwara state before they turned back.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that the accused committed the offences.
The prosecutor, Corporal Sanni Abdulahi, objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him at the Federal prison custody Ilorin, pending the outcome of investigation.
The prosecutor submitted further that the alleged offences were not ordinarily bail able and that if the accused was released on bail, the life of the complainant is at risk.
The Defense Counsel, Barrister Ojo, prayed the court to admit the accused to bail pending trial, adding that the accused will not jump bail.
Magistrate Mariam Bello, who presided over the matter, refused the submission of the defense counsel and ordered that the accused be remanded at Federal Medium Security Prison Mandala, Ilorin till the adjourned date. The court adjourned the case till September 24, 2012 for further mention.
