Group Seeks Support For Elected Kwara APC Candidates

Date: 2019-03-19

A political group, Ajulo-opin Patriotic Team (APT) in Omu-Aran, Kwara, on Tuesday rallied stakeholders' support for the newly elected All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state, to enable them to succeed.

The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr Abiodun Afolayan, in Omu-Aran, said that the role of stakeholders in ensuring the dividends of democracy for the people was very important.

Afolayan said the support became necessary in view of the people's high expectations and numerous challenges ahead of the newly elected leaders, in bringing about the desired development to the state.

"We are all aware of the circumstances that ignited the people's revolution and the clamour for freedom, which brought about the "O to ge" (enough is enough) slogan for change, across the state.

"The clamour for good governance, no doubt, brought about the victories of all the APC candidates in the just concluded general elections in the state.

"As the new leaders prepare to assume their positions, it is pertinent for us, as a concerned group, to call for understanding, prayers and support of stakeholders, for them to succeed," the chairman said.

The group lauded the re-election of Raheem Olawuyi, member representing Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, describing it as well-deserved.

According to the group, Olawuyi's re-election is a testimony of the trust and confidence of the people of the constituency in his ability to bring the desired dividend of democracy to people in the area.

Afolayan said he was optimistic of Olawuyi's transformation of the constituency through qualitative education, improved housing and shelter, transportation, health, skill acquisition and human capital development.

He cited Olawuyi's recent purchase of over 2,000 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms for prospective candidates in the constituency as a tip of the iceberg and a sign of many goodies to come the way of people of the constituency.

The group congratulated Lola Ashiru, the Senator-elect for Kwara South Senatorial District, and Omotayo Awodiji, Kwara House of Assembly member-elect for Irepodun Local Government Area.

Afolayan also lauded the emergence of Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, as the Kwara Governor-elect.
