The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, Hon Muyiwa Oladipo, says the newly established cattle market was to boost the council's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) toward an inclusive growth and socio-economic development in the area.

Oladipo made the assertion during a special prayer for the take-off of the modern cattle market situated behind Omu-Aran motor Park, along Omu-Aran - Ilorin Expressway, Omu-Aran, Kwara.

The chairman, who noted that the era of relying solely on funds from Federation Account was gone for good, expressed optimism that the market would enhance trading and commercial activities of the people of the council.

He said the establishment of the market was also informed by the need to expose the people to modern marketing activities as a tool for creating investment opportunities.

According to him, such is needed to boost the council's revenue profile and fast track its socio-economic development.

Oladipo said the council had secured the cooperation of the Hausa and Fulani communities both within and outside the council toward ensuring the smooth take-off of the market.

He charged members of the council's Revenue Mobilisation Committee (RMC) not to relent in making the market project a reality.

Oladipo, while emphasising the need for the committee to work with relevant stakeholders to ease their assignment, assured them of maximum assistance in achieving their mandate and target.

Responding, Mr Yinka Adenigba, a member of the committee, described the project as a veritable platform toward achieving the desired, growth, progress and development.

Adenigba, who is also the Council's Revenue Officer (RO) thanked the council for the opportunity given to them to be part of its developmental drive.

Chief Bisi Adeyemi, President Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA) in a remark, described the market initiative as long overdue and a timely intervention.

He expressed the association's support to the council at all times.
