Kwara APC petitions DSS Director over Bolarinwa's planned visit

Date: 2018-08-29

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has petitioned the Director of the State Security Services (DSS) in the state over the planned visit of Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa to his office, in the guise of chairman, caretaker committee of the party.

Chairman of the party in the State, Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani in a petition through his counsel, Abdulwahab Bamidele, said the continued posturing of Bolarinwa as APC caretaker committee chairman is a flagrant defiance of court order.

Balogun Fulani maintained that he remains the authentic and legally elected chairman of the APC in Kwara, and referred the DSS Director to an Interim Order of Injunction from the Kwara State High Court restraining Bolarinwa from showing off or parading himself as the caretaker chairman of the APC in the State.

The APC Chairman emphasise that the DSS boss and his office are statutorily duty-bound to obey, respect and enforce the court order while it lasts, and must, therefore, cancel the scheduled visit of Bolarinwa and his group to his office.

"We trust that you would encourage and insist on principle of Status Quo Ante Bellum by disallowing the scheduled visit of the said Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa and his group to your office in obedience to lawful order of court of law to avert lawful presumption of aiding and abetting disobedience to lawful order of a court of law," the petition reads in part.

Balogun-Fulani said he, and other State officers were properly and legally elected as executive members of the Kwara APC on 19 May, 2018 and were consequently sworn into their respective offices for a period of four years. He added that they have been performing their official functions since the time of their election till date.

A Kwara State High Court had on Wednesday, 1 August, 2018 ordered Bolarinwa and other members of the caretaker committee to stop parading themselves or perform any function or duty specified for members of the State party's executive committee.

But in what can be described as a flagrant disregard of court order, Bolarinwa has continued to parade himself as the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Kwara State APC.
